The advent of the Jheri curl dates back to the 1970s. An Irish American man named Jheri Redding noticed that while other businesses were withering during the Great Depression, hairdressers were booming. He later founded a hair company Nexxus in 1979. Being one of the first men with a license in cosmetology, he experimented with a range of chemicals and their applications on human hair. The Jheri curl was one of them. It was a new and fabulous look that quickly gained a lot of popularity amongst celebrities such as Lionel Richie, Keenen Ivory Wayans, and Edmund Sylvers. However, the hairstyling process was labour intensive and very costly, hence out of the reach to normal people. This would have remained the case if it were not for Comer Cottrell. Although Redding was the original inventor of the Jheri curl, it was the entrepreneur Comer Cottrell who adapted it into a trendy look for the African American Community. Cottrell’s legacy began with founding Pro-Line Corporation with his brother in 1970. After discovering Redding’s version of the Jheri’s curl, the company developed their own Curly Kits as a home version of the Jheri Curl that was crafted to suit Afro hair. The Jheri curl was now accessible to the common consumer at only €8 per box. The hairstyle spread like wildfire in the regular African American community. Some statistics say that as many as 1 in 4 African Americans were able to wear the same style.
Cottrell’s Curly Kits have transformed the Jheri curl into an icon that possesses meaning beyond being a fashionable hairstyle. His success has defied stereotypes during that time that assumed African Americans were unable to be prominent trendsetters or entrepreneurs. The Jheri curl embodies not only Afro beauty, but also freedom and cultural pride.
Now that the Jheri curl has returned as a trendy throwback look from the 1970s, you might be interested in how to create and maintain a great Jheri curl hairstyle. Do not worry, we will explain all you need to know about the Jheri curl.
The Jheri curl is a two-step permanent process for ethnic hair and gives off a glossy, loosely curled look. It was known as a “wash and wear” style that was easier to care for than other popular chemical treatments. Traditionally, it is created by using a softening chemical to loosen up the hair and then a neutralizer that sets the curls. The first step is performing light detangling after you clean and dry your hair. After that, wrap a towel around your neck to protect your skin from chemicals. Then you start lathering your hair with softening chemicals, which is often called a “rearranging cream”, so that your naturally tight curls loosen. You should smooth it out in your hair as much as possible and leave it in for the designated amount of time. Then, you should put the looser curls into perm rods. Usually, perm rods come in different sizes. You are able to choose the size you want your curls to be by utilizing different perm rods. After that, leave the perm rods in for a specific amount of time and then rinse away the solution for at least 10 minutes. Lastly, apply a neutralizer to create defined curls. Now your Jheri curl hairstyle is complete!
It is important for everyone who is interested in the Jheri curl to know that the traditional process of creating the Jheri curl on your natural hair involves multiple chemical products and can be very damaging to your hair if it is not done right or maintained properly. For example, if you apply too much of the chemicals or leave them in for too long, your natural hair can become dry and brittle. It is difficult to execute the process perfectly, and many people find that they do experience some type of hair damage despite being as careful as possible.
Despite being less demanding than other popular chemical treatments back in the day, maintaining the Jheri curl still requires a lot of time, effort, and money. Your daily night routine would have to include additional steps for hair care. Specifically, you would need to apply a curl activator spray and a moisturizer, and sleep with a plastic cap to prevent your hair from drying out. These Jheri curl products are quite expensive too. Activator sprays are typically greasy and difficult to use, often staining clothing and furniture. Every time you wash your hair you will rinse out styling products, which exposes the hair to secondary damage. As your hair grows longer, new growth requires additional styling, further adding to the overall expense.
These two factors are the main reasons the traditional way of making Jheri curls fell out of favour. Do not be discouraged though. There are plenty of other modern options that can help you create a big, bold, and beautiful Jheri curl look without worrying about hair damage.
As mentioned above, using the traditional method to achieve the Jheri curl is labour-intensive and expensive to maintain. Well, here is some good news for you. Here are two modernized methods to create a stunning Jheri curl without using any chemicals.
The first method is the use of crochet braiding. Although crochet braiding may sound as if it is referring to the hair itself, it is actually referring to how hair is added on. The crochet method is a way of adding hair extensions to existing natural hair. The first step involves cornrowing your hair and then attaching extensions to the cornrows. Then, the crochet hair extensions are lopped under the cornrows with a crochet needle, which is essentially a hook, and finally secured with knots. This way, you can achieve the Jheri curl without styling natural hair, preventing your hair from being exposed to damaging chemicals. There are different variations of crochet hair extensions that feature tighter curls or looser curls. These Jheri curl hair extensions are often under €10 per pack and require less than 3 hours to install. After correct installation, crochet braids can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 8 weeks, averaging around 4 weeks.
However, one major drawback of crochet braids is that you must take extra care when washing them. If you wash them like washing your own hair, there is a risk of loosening the knots and hair extensions may fall off. Sometimes people choose not to wash their crochets at all. You can probably get away with this if you do not leave them in for too long, but for those who prefer washing, the simplest way is to use a spray bottle. After spraying your scalp with shampoo solution, lightly massage your scalp and co-wash your natural hair and synthetic hair extensions together very gently. Then, spray a leave-in conditioner onto your scalp. Finish by adding a moisturizer to your hair and sealing it with hair oil.
The second method is purchasing a Jheri curl weave. There are different variations of this type of wig; here, we will use a lace frontal wig as an example. Unlike crochet hair extensions, weaves are almost always made up of human hair, which guarantees that your hair will look beautiful and natural. A lace frontal wig is composed of a frontal hairpiece and additional hair bundles that are later attached to the hairpiece. The frontal has a strip of hand-knotted lace sized 13x4 inches that covers your full hairline from ear to ear. This undetectable lace front reproduces a soft, seamless hairline such that its hair looks as if it grew off from your own scalp. Once installed, it acts as a “half-wig”. After attaching additional Jheri curl hair bundles, you now have a full, kinky bob wig!
Compared to crochet braids, lace frontal wigs offer more versatility because you can style your hair however you want as you would do with normal hair. You can even dye your wig whatever colour you like. The washing procedure is similar to washing your own hair too. The best thing is no matter what you choose to do to your weave, it will leave your natural hair intact. Absolutely zero worries about damaging your own hair! Lace frontal wigs also require less maintenance. They tend to last longer than crochet braids, usually 8 weeks or more, sometimes even over 1 year. One thing to mention is that weaves tend to be more costly. That being said, compared to other hairstyles, Jheri curl weaves are curly and bouncy, so they require fewer hair bundles to complete. This makes them less expensive than other types of weaves.
Overall, a Jheri curl weave the best option for someone who prefers a hassle-free experience and is seeking a long-lasting investment piece. After all, changing your hairstyle should be a fun and refreshing experience, not tedious and draining!
Whether you like to wear your weave in a beanie or with your favourite bandana, maintaining a natural look with your Jheri curl weave is important to make sure your hair always looks gorgeous and glowing.
Correct maintenance is key. In general, Jheri curl weaves are prone to becoming dry and brittle, so although washing is important, try not to overdo it. Excessive shampooing strips the hair fibres of their natural oils, causing the curls to dry out even more. You should look out for two labels on your shampoo: sulphate-free and alcohol-free. Applying these chemicals to your weave can damage it further. Just like with your own hair, you should be mindful of what your weave is exposed to and avoid harsh chemicals. Deep conditioning is essential when combating dryness, frizz, or dandruff. Try to deep condition with a hair mask at least once a week and distribute the oil through your hair evenly with a bristle hairbrush. Again, avoid products that contain sulphate and alcohol. Another tip to keep in mind is to refrain from overusing blow dryers. Exposing your weave to heat can increase frizz and promote dryness. Try to air-dry your Jheri curl wig as much as possible.
Another essential factor that affects how natural your weave looks is the quality of the weave itself. Different manufacturers can produce wigs of varying qualities. A high-quality wig would be made up of 100% human hair instead of being a mix with synthetic hair. The lace material should be hand-crafted and hypoallergenic. Manufacturers should also include an instruction booklet specific to their Jheri curl product so that you can maintain your weave according to their instructions.
Now that you have learned all about Jheri curls, you must be excited about getting your own Jheri curl hairstyle. As discussed above, the traditional way of creating Jheri curls is not healthy for your hair, so you may be considering a weave instead. Mildwild is a business that specializes in producing different types of wigs. It offers top-quality Jheri curl wigs that are natural-looking and soft to the touch. Their wigs are made from 100% human hair with high quality lace material underneath, allowing your scalp to breathe comfortably. They come in sizes anywhere between 12 to 18 inches, suiting every head size out there. What really adds value to their Jheri curl products is their attention to detail. Their wigs have a pre-plucked hairline that naturally blends with your scalp so that you will not have to spend hours adjusting the hairline by hand. The packaging is also irresistible – who does not enjoy bonus gifts with a necklace, a soap flower, 4 wig combs, and a wig cap all packed into a luxurious diamond-shaped box? ]]>Synthetic wigs are a great budget-friendly option for people have issues with hair or just looking for a hair change. They are natural looking, easy to take of and can be better at holding it's style even after washing. However, a lot of people have this question in mind and want to have a concrete answer how long a synthetic wig will last.
How long do synthetic hair wigs last?
To be frank, it depends on how you maintain your wig.
In general, the life span of synthetic wig is about three to six months, and it depends on how you take care of your synthetic wigs.
What Factors will impact the lifespan of synthetic wigs?
There are various factors that can impact the lifespan of synthetic wigs, but these four significantly affect their life cycle.
The durability of wig greatly depends on the hair quality. With technological advances, synthetic hair has come a long way in recent years. As a matter of fact, with some of the higher quality synthetic pieces, you would never know they were not natural human hair. Choose a premium synthetic wigs would be a terrific option when considering for a longer life cycle.
As we all know, no matter which kind of wig, frequent use and washing can reduce the lifespan of wigs. If you like to wear wigs for a long time, you can buy 2-3 different types of wigs according to your needs. How often you need to wash your wig will depend on how often you wear it, which affects the amount of care you need to provide for your wig. Most synthetic wigs only need to be washed every 6-8 wears. Washing and styling the wig frequently can put more stress on the fibers, causing them to break down more easily.
Using a wig for a long period of time directly depends on maintenance and care. Also, it depends on how carefully you keep your wig.
There are a few points that you need to follow in order to take proper care of the wigs.
How do you wash your wigs is one of the key aspects.
How do you style your wig is also necessary as most of the time they are already pre-style when you get it, otherwise you need your stylist before you wear it.
How to store your hair is also very important for you to understand.
How to make your wigs last longer?
If you want to extend the lifespan of your synthetic wig, you must pay attention to caring it. So here are some tips and tricks to keep your wigs in top shape.
As we mentioned before, overwashing your synthetic wigs will reduce the life circle of your synthetic wigs. Especially, wh
en washing your hair with harsh chemicals, such as the ones found in sulfate and paraben shampoos, will not only dry out your hair, but they can also irritate your scalp, fade color, and even dull natural colored hair if used too often. Using a dry shampoo to extend the time between washes will significantly improve the health of your hair.
When you feel like the wig gets tangled mated and loses the integrity of the wig. What you should do is to use a dry shampoo. Especially the one by herbal essences.
Just shake it and spray it on the hair. It literally revives the hair, takes that necessary oil for protecting the hair. So if it seems like your wig is falling flat and it doesn’t have many waves. Try the dry shampoo and it might give it a boost of life.
The next thing we recommend to use is a conditioning spray. You can also use dry conditioner or detangling conditioning spray. Just spray this onto the hair. Then run through this wig. After using the shampoo and the conditioner spray, it is perfectly fine.
Detangling is also super important in maintaining your wigs, especially if you have like wavy or straight wigs, super curly texture, kinky wigs. Don’t use a detangling brush to detangle it. Use a paddle brush if I want it more fuller, bigger, larger, more volume but not for detangling. Start from the ends just like your natural hair and move up. Which you can do is spray the conditioner spray on your hair and then go back in with your paddle brush, so that it is easier to detangle.
For more information of hair maintenance, please refer to Hair Care and Use.
Last tip is extremely important if you want your wig to last longer. You have to store it properly. Place your wig on a mannequin or Styrofoam head if wear it frequently as this will help you maintain a good style of the hair.
This is so important to put this over your wig and then store your wigs back into the bag. So use this, don't throw wig away. This keeps all the hair together. It also holds the style. If you ever wonder how like when you pull the wig out the package the curls are still fresh, the hair is not going anywhere.
So, this is how you can take care of synthetic hair wigs which helps in increasing their lifespan. You now have the information to know just how long synthetic hair wigs have the potential to last, you can make your fabulous wig worth the investment!

]]>I visited the classicalguitarbooks Wigs website and browsed for some time. Eventually, I chose an 613# wig and ordered it but unfortunately it was out of stock in my preferred colour.
My next choice is a 10# wig, an auburn layered lace frontal with stunning movement. It has a perfect color that let you transform into a sassy goddess with the perfect auburn blend shade.
I hope you find this review of the auburn lace wig by classicalguitarbooks to be a helpful tool as you navigate the world of wig shopping!
Package
As you can see, the lace wig came in this chic black bag. I really appreciate this because it means I have something nice to store my wig in (and it’s resealable!). The wig itself was carefully netted in another separate bag (that I can use for another wig!). And altogether, the package came with necklace, soap flower, reusable bag, the wig, and wig cap.
Hair
This 12-inch synthetic lace front wig is made from Kanekalon Futura hair which is said to be light and soft with natural body and luster. Personally, I find the hair to be very natural looking and beautiful. It is light, smooth and moves natural.
Hairline
The pre-plucked hairline for the natural look. classicalguitarbooks plucked the hairline to make your lace wig more natural and easier to fit your head. The hair of the plucked hairline will look like growing from your own head. In my opinion, this one has one of the best hairlines on the market.
Fake Scalp Top
The pre-made fake scalp synthetic wig from classicalguitarbooks is the perfect transition to start moving away from unnatural wig look and hair damage. It really a good option for me or for wig beginners, lazy girls and the women who pursue the realist wig look.

Wigs allow us to sport a new look every day. But when selecting a wig it is often difficult to know where to begin. Choosing between human hair and synthetic hair is one of the hardest decisions you will make when selecting a wig. But did you know that there is one hair fiber that has the both worlds of styling versatility of human hair wigs and staying power of synthetic wigs? Yes, it is the heat-friendly synthetic fiber. Heat resistant synthetic fiber is more luxurious and realistic than any other synthetic fiber, thus giving you the heat styling benefits of human hair without high investment of it. Find more information about heat-friendly wigs below.
Heat-friendly wigs are special synthetic fiber wigs that can withstand the wear and tear of heated styling tools. Although these realistic wigs are not made of human hair, they are made of man made strands that look and feel just like real, naturally growing hair. For women who want to have fun with their hairstyle, a heat resistant wig may be a good option.
As mentioned above, synthetic wigs have the advantages of both human hair and synthetic wigs. Of course, its benefits are not limited to the above.
One of the main concern of heat-friendly wig wears is the longevity. With a lifespan of only a few months, they do not last as long as human hair wigs or traditional synthetic wigs. That's because it's easy to get tangled. Heat friendly synthetic wigs can become nappy if they are restyled excessively or exposed to abrasive actions (such as your head against a pillow or seat back). Still, heat resistant wig is more expensive than regular wigs. Therefore, you'd better take special care of these fibers in order to have a good look.
Brush with a wide-tooth comb
Whether your wig is straight or curly, you need to stick with a wide-tooth comb. A paddle brush is a big no-no. A paddle brush pulls the fiber of the wig downwards. When the brush is removed, the hair springs back upwards and tangles with adjacent strands. Minimize frizz and protect your wig with a with a wide-tooth comb.
Wash with lukewarm water
Heat-friendly synthetic wigs are great because they are so versatile. If you want to go curly, you can! What about straight? Yes! However, you may want to return your wig to its original style. Once you wash it, it will return back to its original style once dry.
Limit the wash frequency
You don’t have to wash this wig every other time you wear it, because washing, conditioning and drying your heat friendly fiber style is going to create wear and tear. You can’t avoid the friction on the wig. So go as long as you possibly can on the wig before you wash it. After the first time you wash it, the wig will look a little bit different and that’s partially because you are washing off some of the silicon. It may lose some of the luster and sheen that it has before you wash it.
Keep the conditioner away from the roots
When washing your heat-friendly wigs, keep the conditioner away from the roots. Conditioner, while fantastic for the ends of a wig, can undo knots in fake scalp or lace front, which can lead to loss of fiber or shedding.
New from classicalguitarbooks Wigs: heat friendly wigs — made from Kanekalon material that is specifically for heat friendly fiber. If you’re looking for a wig with unlimited versatility, classicalguitarbooks Wig has over 30 heat-friendly styles to choose from. Heat friendly synthetic wigs make it easy to change the style and look of your wig from straight, to wavy or curled, giving you endless styling options. ]]>The short answer to the question is no.
No matter how many times you have worn a wig, you probably still have a fear of it coming off your head. Wigs blowing off, sliding off or falling has become the number one fear among women worldwide. But we also know that this issue should never happen as long as your wig fits properly. However, a wig that’s too snug could pop off, and a wig that’s too loose could slide off.
Find the right size wig for your head will help your wig look more natural, it will also get your wig more secure. It is easy to figure out.
To measure a cap that fits your head like a glove, get a soft measuring tape and make sure your hair is styled flat for accuracy. Use the tape to measure your head's circumference, the distance from hairline to nape, ear to ear (across the crown), and temple to temple (looping the tape around the back of the head). See the video below for how to measure your head for wigs.
Well, with a properly sized wig, you may still feel worried. You may fell the included adjustable straps are not enough for securing your wig.
Whether you are a seasoned wig wearer or are picking out your first wig, it is important to know how to keep your wig from slipping. Here, classicalguitarbooks Wigs will guide you on the various techniques and tools you can use to secure your wig.
Solution 1: Wig Grip
Wig grips are one of the most popular and effective methods that help you when discovering how to keep your wig in place all day. Those with or without natural hair can wear them. A wig grip is similar to a headband and is usually made of velvet on both sides. They are designed to grip your hair, skin or wig cap from one side, and your wig from the other.
Solution 2: Wig Cap
Wearing a wig cap is a great foundational tool that will help to keep your wig from slipping, especially when used in conjunction with other methods. What’s more, it prevents the natural hair from breaking easily due from friction, creating a safe and sanitised barrier between the wig and scalp, maintaining the cleanliness of your wig.
Wig caps don’t just act a protective barrier between the scalp and your wig, they are also the perfect tool for helping keep your wig in place. You will find a variety of materials: mesh, nylon, cotton, etc.
Solution 3: Wig Tape
Wig tape has also become a popular choice for keeping your wig from slipping. While it's true that wig tape is one of the most effective methods of securing a wig, it's not worth the damage to any existing hair you have.
So if you still have hair on your head and you're worried about hair loss, move on to the next method.
Wig tape is attached to the underside of your wig, giving a secure and comfortable bond to your scalp.
Solution 4: Wig Glue
As with wig tape, wig glue is an extremely secure method of wig attachment, and you could potentially rip out hairs when you remove it. If you have hair or sensitive skin, avoid wig glue.
Wig glue is a roll-on adhesive that is clear and won't leave stains. Wig glue is easily removed with water and is pliable (it will move with your skin rather than staying stiff in one area).
As a bonus, you can use your wig glue to secure other things, like pantyhose, socks, nylons, shoulder straps, or orthopedic devices.
Solution 5: Bobby Pins
Bobby pins are used to deliver extra security into the hair wig. You can lift some of the hair you have and then stick a few bobby pins. It is also possible for you to apply bobby pins from outside the wig, especially near your temples.
When it comes to how to secure a wig, it is more than just the tools and adhesives. The type of the unit you wear also matters. Investing in a luxury, heat-friendly synthetic wigs gives you the most sturdy, long-lasting unit possible.
Units like classicalguitarbooks wigs offer pre-plucked hairline, Swiss lace and additional Velcro straps so that securing your wigs is snap. Additionally, with its innovative fake scalp technology, it provides you the look that the hair is just growing out of your skin.

For dry shampoo, just spray the wig with it, then follow above steps.
Tips: Still, it will build up just like any other product. To avoid excessive buildup, make sure to clean your wig 8 to 10 wears.
Shampooing is the basic method to make wigs less shiny. Most wigs will lessen the shine with washing. If you’d like to speed it up, wash the wig a few times before wearing. A couple of washes should give you the look you want. Be sure to wash it the correct way. If you are unsure of how to shampoo your wig, read our synthetic wig care guide here.
Remember to always use shampoo specifically meant for synthetic locks. Using products that aren't meant for synthetic wigs can do more harm than good.
Fabric softeners are also an good solution for removing shine from wigs. The chemicals in fabric softeners remove excess shine in a similar fashion as a dry shampoo. This technique is also commonly used to revive synthetic wigs.
How to Make a Wig Less Shiny with Fabric Softener:
The next trick also uses a product you have already: a dryer sheet. The small pieces you toss into the dryer with your laundry can help tone down the shine on your wig. Poke the bristles of a wide-tooth comb through a dryer sheet. With the sheet touching the hair, work the comb through in sections. A dryer sheet may not work like dry shampoo, but it does work if you’re in a pinch.
Certain styling methods help deflect the shine of synthetic wigs. Wigs tend to look shinier when they are in a sleek, straight style. Wearing your wig in a wavy, curly, or slightly messier style makes the hair catch less light, giving a less shiny look. Updos and half updos with clips and bobby pins will also do the trick. How to Stay Cool in Your Wig (Expert Tips)
Here are top 8 mistakes, along with how to fix them. Surely be a great reminder for both new and seasoned wig wearers.
Similar to your natural hair, applying too much heat will cause irreversible damage to your wig. Generally speaking, some, but not all the wigs can withstand the heat. Don't use heat tools on regular synthetic wigs. The heat will melt the fibers. So read labels or packaging before using heat.
Solution: Invest in a heat-resistant wig if you like to style your wig with heat daily. Still, using the lowest setting on flat iron or other heat tools isn’t enough to safeguard your hear-resistant wig from heat damage. If you’re not using a thermal protection on your tresses, they can still get ruined from any amount of heat from your straightener, dryer, or curling iron.
Never wash a synthetic wig with regular shampoo. Most regular shampoo and conditioner designed for regular hair will weigh down your wig’s strands, causing the opposite of bouncy, fresh locks.
Solution: Just stay away from styling products that's designed for human hair and use a product that's specially formulated for synthetic hair.
For many women, it's natural to brush or comb your hair while it's wet to make detangling easier. But for wigs, it's a no-no. Brushing or combing your synthetic wig while wet will lead to breakage, frizz.
Solution: Wait until the wig is completely dry before running your fingers through the hair and gently brushing out any tangles.
Gorgeous wigs cannot work their miracle without a great foundation– a neatly, properly wrapped hair. Not doing so will cause the wig to look puffy rather than natural.
Solution: Before placing a unit on, don’t forget to braid your hair in cornrows. It is ideal, especially for those with longer hair. Do not braid your hair too tight as this might lead to scalp and thinning hair problems in the future.
Never treat your hair in a rough manner. It is too delicate for that! When you are washing a synthetic wig, do not scrub it too aggressively. It can really cause lots of tangles and knots and damage the fibers. And avoid wringing it to dry.
Solution: Take a towel, fold it in half, put the wig in and press it with all your hands until all the water kind of seeps into that towel. This helps from dripping and then let it dry the rest of the way by hanging it upside down or on a wig stand.
Regular brushes and combs stretch the fibers and permanently damage a wig’s delicate strands. Not only does that disrupt the integrity of the style, it can cause hair to fall out of the wig.
Solution: Go for a wide-tooth comb or wig brush so that your wig will stay lush and full for longer.
Just like skin, wig hair is vulnerable to damage from harmful UV rays. Sunlight and heat will dull the color of your wig and break down the hair fibers. If your wig spends too much time in the heat, not only will it have a faded look but it will also be weaker. Even worse, it can even start to fall apart.
Solution: Applying a conditioning spray with UV protection before you spend a day outdoors. Wearing a hat or taking an umbrella, a scarf will also be a great option for these days.
It is a no-no practice to put away a dirty wig in a box. Your wig will get even dirtier than they were in the box. What's worse, it might be stiff and dry when you get it out the next time.
Solution: To maintain your wig’s quality for the longest possible period of time, clean your wig before putting it away. Once your wig is clean, you can place it on a wig stand or a mannequin head. Store it in a pinch, a shoe box will also a clever idea.
]]>The type of wig cap that your wig features can make a big difference in how natural it looks. With lace fronts and fake scalp wigs, you can keep everyone in the dark about your hair.
Lace Front Wigs give you a virtually natural hairline which is seamless and looks like the hairs along the hairline are growing right out of your head.
Fake Scalp Wig is also called Pre-Made Bald Cap Wig that comes with a fake scalp constructed. It adopts a new fake scalp method that addresses the stiffness caused by the glue method and makes it reusable with no washing problems. Because each hair is sewn in just like natural hair grows...It's a much more natural look.
Rooted colors give your wig dimension and depth while delivering a realistic look as it creates a illusion of your wig hair that is growing right of your head.
Wigs with rooted colors, on the other hand, mimic the natural gradients in bio hair by blending several colors.
Can’t get used to the idea of the rooted look? Look for a wig that has a ‘blend’ of two or more colors to give you dimension. Highlighted color has relatively the same affect as rooted. Solid colors and wigs have a tendency to look less natural.
If you don’t line up your wig with your natural hairline, your wig can be noticeable. Thus, it is super important to make your wig lie right on your natural hairline.
To correctly line up your wig with your natural hairline, first put your wig on your forehead just above your eyebrows.
Next, slowly slide the wig back over your head, adjusting as you go, until the bottom of the wig hits the nape of your next.
Last, slide the wig forward just a bit until it hits your natural hairline, secure the straps, and style away!
Just like with your natural hair, you can have your wig trimmed by your stylist to create a look that best compliments your face shape. This will give you a unique, customized look that frames your face perfectly, which will make the style appear more natural. Thinning in strategic areas to compliment your face shape is also a good option.
Product is important to make your wig look more realistic. A lot of wigs can be extremely shiny, which causes the hair to look unnatural, using spray powder or dry shampoo is the amazing way to bring the gloss to a natural shine and make the strands look more real.
Another trick comes from using products in your makeup bag. To improve the look of your wig, it is recommended to lightly brushing the part and hairline with concealer so that the lace matches the color of your skin.
Like your own hair, you can add accessories to your wig. Add a bright scarf or headband to your wig can take your boring, casual wig style to the level of an exciting chic look. Strategically placing a headband or scarf around the front of the wig cap can also help to keep any of the wig cap from showing around the edges of the wig and help to keep the wig more securely in place on the head. Learn more about how to accessorize your wig here.
No matter how hard you wish, no amount of wig styling products or cap adjustments can save a wig that's past its prime. Plan to replace your wig according to its lifespan. Replace your synthetic wig every 3-6 months and replace a human hair wigs every 6-12 months.
One of the most useful tricks is blending your own hair with your wig. Leave the front section of your hair out and wear the wig a little farther back on your head to expose your natural hair. Make sure to style your own hair to match the wig's texture or curl pattern for the most seamless look.
Lace front wigs do give you a beautifully natural looking hairline, but they never beat the real thing.
NOTE: If you’re going to try this trick, it’s super important that your wig color matches your natural hair color. Now go ahead and try these tips to make you feel completely confident you look your best.

A fantastic way to transition ash blonde roots to platinum ends is to utilize both ombre and balayage techniques. The combination is perfect for hiding where one color ends and the next begins.
Platinum
A really popular shade among majority of the women. Cool, ashy undertones fuse together in this frostbitten, icy color. A bold, striking hue, this is the lightest shade we offer.
Silver Lavender
Silver lavender hair is a lovely icy purple color. Daring and fashion-forward, it’s Platinum’s cooler-toned sister. Lavender hair is great if you want that purple tone but still want it to be subtle. With this shade, it’s possible to see your platinum locks under specific lighting, so it’s not too extreme.
Dark Purple
A very dark and deep purple hair color, fuses red with violet tones and makes for a beautiful and sophisticated look. A versatile shade, dark purple looks flattering on all cool-toned complexions – whether fair or dark – and contrasts beautifully with green eyes. Great one for parties or women who love fun hairstyles.
]]>Dying hair means you have to spend hours on maintainance and touchups. But, if you've been dying to transform your look, but fear damaging your natural strands, a wig is a great way to take a new color for a test run.
Below, classicalguitarbooks’s comprehensive guide to colouring your synthetic hair in the comfort of your own home.
Mix: Pour the acrylic ink into the spray bottle and add some alcohol. The amount of alcohol depends on how light the color you desire. Use more alcohol if you want a lighter hair color or use less alcohol for a more vibrant and deeper color.
Spray: Put on gloves to keep your hands clean, then spray your DIY hair dye on the top section of wig hair and run your hand through it to get it fully saturated. Keep spraying the dye on other hair sections and repeat the steps to ensure that the whole wig get completely coated.
Brush: Using a wig comb to brush the dye through to get the dye on all the hairs, all the layers, front and back and everywhere. Once you have reached a point of color tint you like, you can give the wig at least one hour to dry.
Clean: You can start rinsing the wig in water once you run your hands through it and no dye comes off onto your hands. Keep cleaning the wig until there is no trace of dye in water.
Dry: Get the wig on a towel to dry. After it dries, detangle the hair as described in our another blog. Now, enjoy your newly colored wig.
You can also create a similar ink combo with another method. Mix rubbing alcohol with the ink from sharpies or other, alcohol-based markers. For this method, you’ll need sharpies, rubbing alcohol, a spray bottle, scissors/pliers, a knife, and hand gloves.
Use the scissors or pliers to pull the Sharpie apart. Then get the ink tube out of the marker. So, grab the colorful front section of the Sharpie with your pliers and wiggle it around and pull it until it all comes apart. It can be hard at first, but you got this!
Once it’s apart, put the ink tube aside. Use your pliers to remove the little tip from the front of the sharpie for a little bit of extra ink. This part should come out much easier. And then using something sharp, slice open the ink casing so the ink will come out easier.
Put the ink tube into the spray bottle and add some alcohol. Let it sit for a while. The longer you let it sit, the better. It is best to leave it overnight to get the most out of the ink casing.
Here, you can apply the sharpies the same way as you apply the acrylic ink.
To dye in this method you will need a heat resistant synthetic wig, fabric dye, a pot and stove. First, bring water to boil in a pot - a larger sized pot is preferred. Pour the fabric dye into the hot water when you see some small bubbles appear in water. Then stir the mix. Remove the pot from stove, and drop the wig in. The lighter you want the color, the less time you leave it in, the darker you want it, the longer you leave it in.
At this time, you can also control the tint by putting less or more dye in the actual mixture. Once you have reached a point of color tint you like, remove the wig and rinse it in cold water. Rinse well until the water runs clear and then allow your hair piece to dry naturally.

To begin the process, put your wig on the wig stand and brush it with a wig brush or wood-tooth comb. Detangle the knots so that you' ll get these luscious bouncy curls. For some tips on detangle, you can refer to this blog.
Step 2: Section
Divide your hair into sections with hair clips. If you want small curls you can separate your hair into many sections. If you want large curls you can separare it into fewer sections. During that process, you can set your curling iron, to no more than 350 degrees.
Step 3: Spray
Use a spray bottle bottle to spritz each section of hair until it's completely wet, but not dripping with water. These sprays serve as a defense against melting and can help it hold the curl.
Step 4: Curl
Curl each portion of your hair. Simply take a section of your hair and place the curling iron at the end of the hair. Wind it around the curling iron and hold the kit in place until the hair begins to feel warm. Then release the hair from the curling iron. You can also hold the curl in your hand till it cools.
Continue doing with the rest section of your hair and the others on the sides and at the back. If you want to get a tighter curl, pin the curl in place against your head until it cools completely. This will also help the curl hold its shape longer.
Step 5: Adjust
Once complete you can lightly work your fingertips through the style and manipulate the curls to your desired style. Or you can lightly spray the entire wig with wig styling spray at this point if desired.

]]>People who have donned wigs will tell you this struggle is normal. Same as your own hair, synthetic wigs experience tangles. But why does it tangle? And what can we do to detangle the messy wigs and prevent the issue?
Our top hairstylist Lydia Jones, who works with many celebs, will share her ideas, and give some hints or tips to detangle and prevent it. Let’s move on and find out!
The reasons your synthetic wig get tangled so often might not be why you think.
Scalp
The first reason behind is your scalp which produces natural oils that keep your hair from tangling. But there is no such agent for your synthetic wigs, which leads to its tangling.
Material & Quality
Synthetic wigs are made of materials such as polymer, acrylic, and plastics which are prone to get tangling. Heat-friendly fibers are the only synthetic fiber that offers styling versatility. Of course, the quality of synthetic wigs can also play its role. Lower-quality synthetic wigs are more likely to tangle than higher-quality wigs.
Improper Care
Another reason your synthetic wigs are tangling is because improper care techniques. Once they are improperly treated they can easily get tangled. However, by taking care of a few things one would be able to easily maintain tangle free synthetic wigs.
Age
Keep in mind that even with perfect care, no synthetic wig can last forever. The estimated life span of a synthetic hair product is approximately 4-6 months. Fibers of your synthetic wig will get frayered with wear. Eventually it becomes matted and tangled.
Rubbing
You may have noticed that tangles are more commonplace at the nape of neck. Certain clothes such as a shirt with collar or heavy sweater leads to rubbing that results in tangling.
Now that we have touched on the causes of tangles we can finally work you step by step detangling your synthetic hair. Prior to the work, you should prepare below items:
Step 1: Untangle using the right brush/comb.
Firstly please use a wide-toothed comb, make sure it is bluntly designed that will not damage the fibers of hair, and use it as much as possible to get bigger knots untangled. Then you could use a wig brush to deal with the fine knots.
Step 2: The correct wig care products are needed.
Apply a small amount of shampoo that is specially formulated for synthetic hair and rinse it out. Then use conditioner also specifically designed to protect and enhance the fibers of synthetic hair. Keep in mind not to get the conditioner on the root, which will loosen the hair.
Step 3: Steaming not straightening.
Now that you have used the right tool and correct product on your synthetic wig, and it may be in better condition for some time.
But some wigs do frizz eventually. What to do? A steamer is really the best bet for keeping it smooth. A kinder reminder here would be trying this for the first time on a old wig, in case you made a mess of it.
Take a steamer and small comb, make sure the steamer gives good flow, and walk your steamer down the hair. While doing this, you are going to comb down the hair. Put the comb right on a glide that is right along your steamer and comb. Keep doing it on hairs of all sides. You will notice that the steamer wets the fiber and gives enough heat that you can comb those little frizzles right out. You may have a even smaller comb specially for the ends. After that, you could use a cold curling iron for curly hair styling.
Step 4: Trimming Slight Bits off.
Last but not least, I'd like to recommend trimming as a last resort. I know, you love your wigs, and you couldn't bear to cut off your favorite wigs. But if you are going to maintain it longer, why not choose to lose a slight bit of inch or thinning your wig and get a newer wig?
How do you keep your synthetic wigs tangle and frizz free for as long as possible? Let us know in the comments below!
